Lucy’s affinity for languages started at 11 years of age when she realised that she eagerly awaited her next foreign language class at school - this was the highlight of each week.
Love of Language was founded by professional tutor Lucy Spyrou over 16 years ago.
After studying modern foreign languages at GCSE and A-level, Lucy pursued a 4-year BA degree in French and German. As part of the degree, she spent a year in France and Germany immersing herself in the language and culture. After graduating with a distinction in both languages, Lucy went on to become a qualified TEFL teacher (Teaching English as a Foreign Language).
Upon graduating, Lucy immediately began working for an international company in the South East UK where her role was predominantly using her oral and written French, German and English language skills.
Some years later, Lucy decided that she wanted to run her own business, and help others learn languages, and not only learn languages, but love to learn them. Lucy teaches French and English to all ages and at all levels, i.e. beginner, intermediate and advanced.
Since Lucy is a native English speaker, but speaks French fluently at a native level, this, in fact, helps her understand what problems one faces when learning French and how to solve them!
In Lucy’s experience, patience, kindness and fun lessons are the cornerstone of successful language learning. Everyone should feel comfortable making mistakes: it is all part of the language learning process, plus, it makes for a funny story in the future!
